When I saw the Chanel Mètiers d'Art show held at Linlithgow Palace I was excited to see the Scottish Mary Queen of Scots influences with models decked in tartan. But after seeing the latest feature on 'Scottish beauties' in April VOGUE featuring Scottish designers, actresses and models all wearing the Chanel collection, a huge wave of patriotism has come over me. I have always underestimated Scotland's creative industries, but after seeing Karl Lagarfeld's use of tartan, tweed, plaid, sporrans and even thistles, I can't help but realise all the amazing inspiration that has been infront of me my whole life. The collection was based on Coco Chanel's love of Scotland and the Highlands. If woman so great like her who comes from the glorious city of Paris was enthralled by Scotland then I must have been missing something. I have a new found appreciation for all things traditional thanks to Karl reminding me how great Scotland really is.
