Like clockwork, the palette of pastels bursts back into season this Spring/Summer. The whole Spring/Summer season this year, throughout all trends, focuses massively on femininity in the most extreme ways. Wearing soft pastels is probably the most girlish way to do so. The main colours seen this Spring are icy blue(Dolce & Gabbana & Louis Vuitton), mint green(Dior & Marc Jacobs), soft lemon(Caroline Herrera & Nicole Fahri) and the lightest of pinks(Lanvin & Givenchy). Louis Vuitton were one of the biggest designers to showcase this trend - Marc Jacobs (Creative Director of Louis Vuitton) took a sophisticated and soft take on the feminine trend. The show opened with all the models placed on a glittering carousel, it was absolute MAGIC. They were drapsed in garments with very intricate detail, a main focus being on collars. Delicate lace and chiffons in the array of soft pastels which we all are helplessly trying to pull of this season.
Louis Vuitton chose to dress each model completly in each of the different colours but you can also colour block this trend and mix and match which would probably be more fun and look even more Summery! 3.1 Phillip Lim did exactly this and it shows you can mix 3 or more of these pastel shades without it looking too much. As the shades are so light, it doesn't look too in your face so hopefully people have the confidence to try this out. The colours and combinations used in this collection look like a toned down Gucci S/S 11 but just waaaaaay lighter.
